Elbow Pain Conditions

Elbow pain through an occupation, sports or hobbies is most common than arthritic elbow joint pain. This is due to repetitive and excessive overload of the tendons around the elbow leads to painful tendonitis. Degenerative arthritis (also known as osteoarthritis), rheumatoid arthritis or gouty arthritis are the other less common conditions for elbow joint pain.
Occupations involving repetitive use of the wrist and arm muscles are most likely to develop repetitive strain injuries, such as :

  •  Tennis elbow: Pain at the outer side of the elbow.
  • Golfers elbow: Pain at the inner side of the elbow.
  • Triceps tendinopathy: Pain over the tip of the elbow.

Tendon problems are also common among sports professionals who play badminton, tennis, golf, cricket, and musical instruments.

A few examples of professionals prone to develop pain around elbow tendons are builders, butchers,  carpenters, chefs,  drummers, computer & keyboard users, engineers, housekeepers, plumbers, and painters.

Why Ultrasound Diagnosis and Treatment?

Our in-house high-resolution diagnostic ultrasound machine is an excellent diagnostic tool to diagnose the above problems.  Diagnostic ultrasound dynamic capability helps to assess the muscle/tendon/ligaments and nerve-related problems in a real-time environment.  That means we can assess the above structures when you are carrying out certain movements of the hand.

Ultrasound also guides the injection needle and accurately injects the problematic area and aspirates joint effusion or cysts before steroid shots.
